Course Overview

General Data Management and Analysis (GDMA) consists of three parts (delivered over three days). You can complete each of the parts independently of one another. We suggest the course is completed in its entirety (all three days) to build up your knowledge and skills of the course materials.

Course Objectives - Part 2

Part 2 of the GDMA course is a continuation of Part 1 to tap further into the tools Excel has to offer and increase the use of keyboard shortcuts. 

Duration: 1.0 day / 7.0 hours
Course level: Intermediate
Course type: Instructor-led, in-person or virtual.
Prerequisites: None, but builds on materials from Part 1 of GDMA.
Who should attend: Experienced Excel users looking to leverage increasingly complex tools, features and shortcuts to move from data management to data analysis, visualization and formula review.
Format:

Interactive lecture, participant discussion and hands-on practical. 

What you will learn:

  • How to use the essential data functions, such as Logical and Database.
  • How to approach data management features, such as subtotal tool, named ranges, table tool and data validation.
  • How to conduct data analysis using Goal Seek and Pivot Tables.
  • Simple ways to incorporate visualization, including the benefits of Grouping over Hiding and the use of Charts.
  • Practical and time-saving file management methods, such as protection considerations.
  • A step-by-step process for review management, such as Formula Auditing Bar, Precedent & Dependent cells and Go To tool.
